Snip snip, bang bang

So… I decided to get creative one morning, grabbed some scissors, and gave myself some bangs. I think I like them.

Sparkling nudes

I haven’t been very inspired when it comes to makeup lately. Honestly, the last 2 weeks I haven’t worn makeup all that much, either. Does anyone else go through periods of just feeling “meh” about cosmetics?

Here’s some makeup I wore a few days ago. I meant to upload this earlier, sorry! The eyeshadows I used areย Aromaleigh Missing Batteries (LE) and Star Crushed Minerals Spiced Rum, and a touch of Star Crushed Minerals glitter in Tweedle Dee.

Hawaiian Punch

Hawaiian-Punch-Gallon-BottlesTonight, my husband and I were grocery shopping, originally for just a few things like milk, bread, and fruit. Well, you know how it is, one thing leads to another… and suddenly, you’re doing some legitimate shopping. It’s never just “one or two things”, you know?

I remembered we needed some juice – as we were hovering around the juice aisle, Mark comments, “look at all these flavors. Your dad would have loved this.” I looked down, and saw what he was talking about. He was referring to the large jugs of Hawaiian Punch juice. My dad loved them, especially the orange flavor.

Suddenly, it was like a knife in my heart. Tears came to my eyes as I remembered.

I felt terrible because I forgot how much he loved those juices, and how many times we picked some up for him at the store before he passed away.

My dad passed away from cancer last year, in February.

Mark felt bad because I was suddenly so sad… he felt like he upset me and caused me pain. But no, it’s a good thing for me to remember these things. I never want to forget.

I miss him so much.

Review: LA Colors Moisture Lipstick in Dusty Rose

LA Colors is a brand that I don’t see many reviews on. However, they are one of my favorite bargain brands: they are available in almost any dollar store, and I’ve also seen them in discount department stores and even grocery stores. You can also find LA Colors online. Many people ignore LA Colors because of the cheap prices, and the non-fancy packaging. Yeah, the packaging isn’t pretty or cute: but it’s the product inside that counts, right?

I’ll admit, I also passed over LA Colors for years, until deciding to try some of their products a while back as a broke student. Most of their products can be found for a $1, which is crazy. If you don’t like it, you’re only out a dollar, so why not try it? I’ve found many of their products to be quite good, ewpid-picsart_1397683556486.pngspecially for the price. I love their eye shadows, powder compacts, nail polishes, and also lipsticks.

I have several of these Moisture Lipsticks, but today I’ll be reviewing the shade Dusty Rose. I may do some swatches of the other colors, soon. ๐Ÿ™‚

LA Colors Moisture Lipsticks are enriched with Vitamin E and Aloe Vera. They have an extremely smooth texture, they are lightweight and feel like wearing a lip balm. They do not feel heavy, aren’t sticky, and are very comfortable to wear. Because they are so moisturizing and lightweight, the wear time isn’t that long. But for $1, I’ll sacrifice some longevity in exchange for a smooth, lip balm-style texture. They come in several shades, in creme, frost, satin, and shimmer finishes.

They smell awesome. Seriously, they smell like yummy vanilla ice cream. The scent reminds me of MAC lipsticks. I know, that sounds weird, a $1 lipstick that smells as good as MAC? Well, I kid you not.

Dusty Rose is a soft rosy mauve/pink color, with shimmer. Yeah, I know, that was a weird description, LOL. It’s an every day kind of color that would look great with a variety of makeup looks. The shimmer doesn’t bother me, since I rather like shimmery lip colors, but if shimmer isn’t your thing, I’d try another shade.

For $1, I definitely recommend LA Colors Moisture Lipsticks. You can find them in pretty much any Dollar Tree or Dollar General store. The packaging definitely isn’t pretty, but overall, I like the lipsticks anyway.

Life seems good

You know what? For once…life seems good.

There’s always so many things you can nitpick about: things are never perfect, and I can almost always find something to complain over. It’s often easier to focus on what’s wrong, rather than focus on what’s right.

But lately…you know, things are pretty great. I just feel like things are looking up and becoming more positive. I’m excited about the future and can’t wait to see what happens.

Last week, my husband and I received some excellent news. We are beyond thrilled! I’ll post more about it later, as we find out more information. Thinking about it just makes me smile. ๐Ÿ™‚

I have a reason to smile and be thankful… how about you?
